Have no plans for New Year’s Day? Fear not as Castlecomer host yet another year of their renowned Castlecomer Wellie Race. For what began in 1978 and originated when a group of men decided to burn off the extra few Christmas calories by going for a cross country run in none other than their wellies, little did they know it would lead to the beginning of the annual Castlecomer Wellie Race.
The community event attracts people far and wide and encourages them to participate in the race or parade. It is a day that involves getting out the wellies and getting a bit creative be it dressing up or creating your own float. It is worth noting that all proceeds and donations go to supporting local charities and services. So why not start off the year on the right foot by participating in this action packed event.
This year the The Wellie race committee are working hard preparing to make it bigger and better than ever, so be sure to come along and support. Why not take a look at last year event or visit www. wellierace.com for more information.
